Dona Ana Films & Multimedia is a full-service audiovisual production company based in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
We tell true stories with empathy. We have worked with international clients ranging from NGOs, corporate clients, and television and radio stations. We’ve created everything from bespoke documentaries to branded content to event coverage and podcasts.
Dona Ana Films & Multimedia produced the award-winning documentary short “3 Siblings”. The company has also worked on productions that are focused on mega-sporting events such as the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, the 2015 Copa America in Chile, and the 2016 Summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
Dona Ana Films & Multimedia is operational in Canada, and works with partners in Latin America. We are interested in both partnerships and individual projects.
Sandro Silva
Partner and Producer
Sandro Silva is originally from São Paulo, Brazil, where he co-founded Dona Ana Films & Multimedia. He produced and executive produced the international award-winning documentary short “3 Siblings” (2018). Sandro also worked as a local producer for the Brazilian components for the following projects: the Netflix docuseries Rotten: Episode 4, Big Bird (2018), Beyond the Map from Google (2016), and Brazil’s Trans Awakening (2016), among others. During the 2014 FIFA World Cup and 2016 Olympic Games, he worked as a producer and production coordinator on various productions. Sandro has lived in Edmonton, AB, since mid-2017. Where he co-produced the short experimental film “1000 Brazils of Truth”, which collaborated with local talents and was supported by the NFB North West studio. He wrote, directed and produced the documentary short “Retraining the Brain” (2023), which was part of the Telus STORYHIVE 2021 Black Creators Edition. He is a 2021 Hot Docs Doc Accelerator fellow, and was selected to be part of the Hot Docs Podcast Development Lab with the Inspirit Foundation and Amazon Music. He is the director, co-writer, and producer for the documentary feature The Perfect Match. He is a 2025 Netflix-BANFF Diversity of Voices fellow. Before working in the arts, he was a copyright lawyer in São Paulo.
Sheena Rossiter
Partner and Producer
Sheena Rossiter is the co-founder of Dona Ana Films & Multimedia. She was based in Brazil for nearly seven years, and she produced multiple audiovisual projects related to the 2014 FIFA World Cup, the 2015 Copa America, the 2016 Summer Olympic Games, and other large events. Her producer credits include: the HBO-broadcast documentary “Brazil: Trans Awakening” (2016), “Beyond the Map with Google” (2016), and the Netflix docuseries “Rotten”, episode 4 “Big Bird” (2018), among others. Her directorial debut, “3 Siblings” (2018), screened at over 30 film festivals, in more than a dozen countries, won five awards, and was broadcast on RTP 3 in Portugal and EastLink TV in Canada. She’s directed two Telus Originals: “Eye of the Storm” (2019) and “Marilyn in Jasper” (2019). She co-produced and directed the experimental short “1000 Brazils of Truth” (2021). Sheena produced the Telus STORYHIVE documentary short “Retraining the Brain” (2023). She is the co-writer, editor, and producer for the Telus originals feature Documentary The Perfect Match. Sheena was the editor and post-production supervisor on the feature documentary Pride Vs. Prejudice: The Delwin Vriend Story (2024), which was recently awarded the Edmonton Film Prize. She was selected for the 2018 RIFF Talent Lab, she is a 2019 Telus STORYHIVE Banff Fellowship recipient, and she is part of Cohort 2 in Banff Spark, a program for women in the business of media. In addition to her work in film and television, Sheena is an Assistant Professor and Head of Media Production at MacEwan University in Edmonton, and she has two decades of experience working as a journalist. She is fluent in Spanish and Portuguese.
